Some people are enough to drive a saint to madness or a king to his knees. For there to be betrayal, there would have to initially been trust because only those you trust can betray you. Do not blame yourself if such an event happens to you, but definitely learn from the incident. It is heart breaking enough when you are already enduring a tough time and you thought those who stay with you through thick and thin end up turning against you, just to add more misery to your pain.
Always keep your opponents confused because if they are uncertain of who you are, or what you want, they will not know what you are likely to do next. They can only guess. You can stab a body and it will heal but injure the heart and the wound will last a lifetime. The best gift we can give to anyone is our good character. Riches don’t create happiness, but the example of a good person can and does.
How much time is wasted fantasising about other people’s lives whilst questioning our own? Probably far too much to make any sense. It’s time to stop worrying about what activities others are engaged in, or who with. The grass is never greener on the other side so let them go their way, chasing the brightest lights until they are dimmed once more. You know your path, so stay on it. There is a Greek word, ‘euthymia’, which means believing in yourself and trusting that you are on the right path, whilst not being tempted nor influenced into following the myriad footpaths of those walking into darkness. Trust yourself and your instincts regarding what is right for you.
Honesty is always the best policy. Seasoned liars often experience problems remembering what stories they have told and to who whilst trying to cover up their tracks. This is one of the most important reasons why removing negative and toxic people from out of your life sends out a clear message that your world is better without them. In the beginning of any relationship some people will try to convince you that everything about them is genuine and that they only have your interests at heart, until, one day, you challenge them, and that’s when it all starts going wrong. People reveal their true colours when you don’t respond in the way they expect you to. Lingering bottled up anger and resentments can lie dormant and stagnant for years until something triggers off a chain reaction of emotional behaviour. Negative thoughts can gradually become rotten and confused because of unaddressed issues that have been left to rot. There are no secrets or lies that will not eventually surface in the fullness of time, but all you have to do is be patient, bide your time and wait. Forget about charming sickly sweet meaningless words and chanting because a person’s actions will tell you everything you need to know about their sincerity. Often, quite unintentionally, people will reveal themselves when they are momentarily unguarded, and once they do, there is no point in deluding yourself about their character. Behind every mask there is a face, and behind that, a story. It’s better to fall in love with a delicate heart than a perfect mask.
Hold yourself to a very high standard, and don’t make excuses when you fail to see things in their entirety. Leave other people to their standards, whatever they may be, but always uphold your own. Those who trusts too easily the world can quickly betray.
