HELLO READERS
Winter is a starkly beautiful season with frosty mornings, bright, crisp days and powdery snow. December is a magical, bewitching month, and a desperate celebration of a year ending and pockets of midwinter light found where mostly darkness dwells. There must be something ghostly hanging in the cold, dank air of Winter and eerily beautiful about the freezing frosts, jagged icicles, swirling mists and gloomy darknesses. Its immaculate damp, dank wintery coldness clings and chills to the bone, and is a feeling that cannot be compared to any other season. Everything is made out of magic, frosted leaves, majestic trees and strange looking skies composed of low sunsets and dark, satanic clouds, not to mention the unusual torrents of rain soaking everywhere to a muddy pulp. Imagine a forest as a sacred cathedral and then bask in its beauty like a living communion.
Use this precious time during the Festive Season to recentre yourself and look for future possibilities with fresh and renewed energy and clarity as each day brings you into a space of liminality. There is more than enough time to weave strands of wisdom into your own venerated scriptures of life. You are more than you know, and a lot less lost than you thought, or might feel. This is a period of quiet thought and deep reflection as we gently approach the end of yet another’s year.
The Earth is closest to the Sun in the Winter as we approach the Solstice and its pagan rituals and traditions. How did it get so late so soon, where has time evaporated to? All those things you were going to do and never got around to fulfilling. Broken promises and resolutions, injustices, endless worry and not knowing what to do or where to go next. There are no real answers, we just have to accept what is and make the best of it all. These are just a few of the stark realities that hide and linger behind the facade of all the twinkling lights, glitz and glitter that mask the harsh realities of what is really going on behind the scenes and closed door of other people’s lives. Not everyone wants to celebrate in the merriment because the heart had its reasons. You must live with people to know them.
Brace yourself for the next influx of events because with all the powerful cosmic energy that is currently influencing our lives, it is time to take advantage of this most interesting and fortuitous period by boldly reaching out for what you really want and to start putting a few plans into action. Your determination to overcome challenges you might encounter confirms just how strong and determined you have grown, so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
There is something uniquely special and beautiful about this time of year. We often enjoy the days running up to Christmas almost more than the big day itself. It is supposed to be a time of goodwill towards others whilst reaching out into the unknown in the hope of being seen or heard. Without our faith, or at least a glimmer of hope to cling onto, we continue to live in an eternal waiting room.
It’s in the quiet of our thoughts that we can perhaps reflect on yesteryear and await with mild anticipation what might await us next year, or perhaps maybe not.
The year dwindles and glows
to December’s red jewel,
my birth month.
The sky blushes,
and lays its cheek
on the sparkling fields.
Then dusk swaddles the cattle,
their silhouettes
simple as faith.
These nights are gifts,
our hands unwrapping the darkness
to see what we have.
The train rushes, ecstatic,
to where you are,
my bright star.
Love and light,
Linda and the Lulas xxx
