SOMETIMES YOU WISH YOU COULD FORGET

HELLO READERS

If there must be pain, may it come and go quickly because we have a life to live, and we need to live it in the best way possible. If we must make a choice, then sometimes someone will get hurt but we cannot wait around forever. If you want to forget something or someone, never foster hatred whilst seeking revenge.

Everything and everyone that you resent and despise is engraved upon your heart, so if you want to move forwards, accept your part in in all that has happened and start over again. No one else can do this for you, and neither should they because they have their own demons to fight. In some cases, absence makes the heart grow fonder, or in some cases, more forgetful. Sometimes to forget is to be free.

Forgetting is not completely about erasing memories but about making new ones that are worth remembering. The past beats inside of you like a second heart. Some memories may evoke beautiful sentiments whilst others can so easily tear you apart. If you must leave a place that you have lived in and loved, and where all your yesterdays are buried deep within the walls, leave them undisturbed and walk away slowly and gently. Never look back and imagine that things are exactly as you remember them because over time, everything fades away, including us. Yesteryears seem safe and vanquished whilst the future is wrapped up in a cloud that appears formidable from a distance. So much of our history is complex and mysterious with layers of people’s lives, thoughts, feelings and romantic inclinations all lost somewhere in the labyrinth of life.

Never envy anyone because other people’s lives are rarely as fabulous as they outwardly appear. Mostly, it’s all smoke and mirrors for the benefit of onlookers and window shoppers. There are fragments of unfinished art, music, language notebooks, drafts, journals, letters, essays, poetry and paintings, some tied with frayed satin ribbons collecting dust in some dark and forgotten corners.

If you aren’t in the moment, you are either looking forward to uncertainty or referring to past sorrows and regret. Some people can only believe what they see and hear for themselves whilst others intuitively know things. Everyone’s perception of faith is individual to them, and each path is different. Be prepared for every eventuality because you may one day connect with a kindred spirit who understands your heart. Teamed together you can serve as a source of comfort and joy when all else has previously failed. You can collect and assemble the fragmented pieces of a broken life together, but the scars of a breakage will always serve as a reminder of what was once so very real. Having regrets when you once gladly gave everything will only erode your soul, so start living in the present moment and be done with it all.

The past can be your treasure Nothing is ever lost as long as it is remembered. The hardest thing about the road not taken is not knowing where it might have led. Some memories will naturally fade over time whilst you sleep, whilst healing can take a very long time. The aftermath of any trauma will always take its toll.

You can look at a photograph for a week and never think of it again. You can also look at something for just a second and remember it all your life.

‘Well, now,
If little by little you stop loving me,
I shall stop loving you.
Little by little,
If suddenly you forget me,
Do not look for me
For I shall already have forgotten you.’

LOVE AND LIGHT,
