How well you understand others makes all the difference in your relationships with them. People are an open book and if you watch and listen to what they say over time, you can get a very good picture of their personality and attitudes. We meet people, we start relationships, friendships, romance even, but sometimes trying to understand a person can be like straining through muddy water, so it’s important to have the patience to wait, be still, and allow the mud to settle. You must question everything. You always have to ask the reason why and if you don’t understand the answer, ask the question again because people fear what they don’t understand.
There is a big danger in judging things and people that we don’t understand by how they appear. There are always individuals out there who are only too happy to spin a loop concerning office or family politics that are full of rumours and speculation. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of earnestly wanting to get our point across that we forget to listen to the person we are speaking to, so in order for us to understand anything, we firstly have to become good listeners. It’s important to understand that you can’t achieve your dreams if you don’t connect with people who guide you to improve upon the skills that you have. Be a good listener and give your full attention to what is being said. Every communication, every conversation you have with mentors, friends or even strangers hold a poignant message, but it’s up to you whether or not you understand what is being said and whether or not you will use this knowledge to your advantage.
Everything has a past. Absolutely everything, a person, an object, a word, a story, everything. If you don’t know the past, it’s not possible to understand the present and so what happens is that people plan very poorly for the future because they are working in the dark. Always do your homework. Investigate thoroughly without leaving any stone unturned. Get as many facts together as possible because the more knowledge you collect the better your understanding of a situation and other people.
If you don’t want anyone to misunderstand you ever again, the secret is to go into yourself, learn to understand yourself and who you were previously, who are today and in which direction you are travelling in. That way, no one will ever misunderstand you again because not only are you sending out a loud message to the world, you will put others right if they do jump to the wrong conclusions prematurely.
You will never know how powerful your choices have been or are until the day you ask yourself why you made them? To want to understand something is an attempt to recapture something that has been lost.
Intelligence is knowing the right answer, wisdom is knowing when to say it.
