A Quarrelsome Person Deserves No Honours

Behind every argument is someone’s ignorance. Arguing isn’t communication, it’s noise. Why be foolish enough to assume that volume will succeed when logic won’t?

No sensible person engages in an unprepared fencing match, but There are some people who like fighting so much that in the end, they will even turn on one another and fight amongst themselves. You cannot reason a person out of a position they neglected to reason themselves into.

Discussion is an exchange of knowledge whereas an argument is an exchange of ignorance, and never make the mistake of arguing with people for whose opinions you have no respect for. In other words, never argue with an idiot.

Self respect is the root of all discipline and a greater sense of dignity grows as you begin to take control of your life and understand that you don’t have to prove anything to anyone. Your dignity and good character may be assaulted, attacked and cruelly mocked, but it can never be taken away unless it’s surrendered. Never make the mistake of running after anyone or begging for their friendship. Your staying silent and refusing to engage in their playground games and unacceptable behaviour is like slow growing purgatory to the toxic mindset of a coward. An intelligent person will endeavour to communicate in a pleasant way, an ignorant one will play the victim by stomping off in a huff, slamming doors and later hiding behind them, refusing to speak, justifying their ignorance by gossiping and bad mouthing the person who they claim upset them whilst all the time they are lying through their teeth. They are the ones at fault, not you.

Every life deserves a certain amount of dignity, no matter how poor, worn or damaged the shell that carries it. Your inner strength is measured by how hard you hold on and your self worth and faith is evident by how you finally concede to letting go. Your peace of mind is measured by how long you don’t look back.

You don’t have to raise your voice, ever, just work on improving your argument.
