Be Selfless

Hello Readers,

How do any of us know that we are good, kind, selfless people? Are you a big, generous, expansive human being, or do you struggle with showing outward affection and find it even more difficult to give hugs, cuddles and reassurances? Only you know the answers because only you know the truth.

More and more people are starting to find the good in themselves. Over the past years there has been a huge increase in giving and sharing. Greater numbers of successful people have left well paid jobs to work for charities at home and abroad. More and more people are taking the decision to give time, energy and effort to others. Can you list ten indications of your goodness and largeness of spirit right now? If you have problems coming up with the ten easily, then you may need to give yourself more opportunities to demonstrate the qualities of tolerance, respect and kindness.

You don’t have to give huge amounts to money to charities either. The most precious gift you can give to anyone is your time and going that extra mile to help someone in need because believe me, there is always someone worse off than you. Look after the most vulnerable people you know. You can inspire others with well chosen words that could really make a difference. Listening with interest and concern to someone who is truly experiencing difficulties and trauma can make an enormous difference to their day. The greatest rewards are always in the giving. It will make you feel terrific about yourself because you will see your own problems with less intensity and become more relaxed about your own issues. Giving selflessly in this way brings with it a unique feeling of having made a contribution in a way that often, paid work doesn’t.
So, if you want to see yourself as a thoroughly decent human being, go right ahead and be one. Make a contribution, make a difference and make your life important. Being selfless requires active service. Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment or opinion. The smallest act of kindness and caring all have the potential to turn a life around.

Until Next Week,
