It Doesn’t Have to Be Like This

Happiness starts with you. Sometimes, in order to get your life back, you have to face the death of what you thought your life should or ought to look like. The more fanciful and delusional you are, the longer you delay facing reality and the harder and more complicated your journey will be. There are times when you will find unexpected strength somewhere deep down within the depths of your soul when disappointments leave you shattered, bewildered and inconsolable with grief. For your own sanity and wellbeing it’s important that you make time to slow down and rest, and this could mean saying no to people that disrespect your boundaries.

Just like the Moon, your life will go around in cycles and phases. At times there will be much darkness with no seeming ending, but have faith because when the morning comes, you will shine like the brightest star once you have emerged from out of the abyss of despair. Nothing lasts forever and nothing can remain the same. The wheel of life will continue to turn for all eternity. Life is about the survival of the fittest.

Happiness and joy are not something that can be found easily. The state of your mind is nothing more than a reflection of your life. Your inner and outer energies must be balanced and in line with the universe, otherwise you risk becoming ill. Never again get comfortable with someone disrespecting you and treating you as an option or easy convenience. Don’t allow anyone to walk through your mind wearing muddy feet. What you allow you give permission to get more of. The only way to win with a toxic person is not to play their ridiculous games. You will never be right for the wrong person no matter how accommodating you are. Where you find yourself in a year from now is a clear indication of some of your choices. What you plant, you will harvest. What you sow, so shall you reap. Life isn’t a fairy tale or story book. It’s about making the best of what you have got. Seeking perfection is a fool’s errand because we are all beautiful yet dismally flawed in places.

You cannot and should never try to make things right for someone if they are lazy and unwilling, not even to ease your conscience. Their journey is not yours and their choices are their responsibility. Without any kind of challenge or adversity there can be no inner strength and resilience developed. Do not deprive someone’s opportunity to grow by trying to ‘fix’ them or rescue them from their trials. Without the struggle they will not find their wings and learn how to fly freely.

‘The circle spins a perfect line
Free from borders, free from time
I close my eyes and clear my mind
I see you in the wings that chase the night
Circling the warmth of candlelight
I hear you in the wind as the two poles spin
Whispering the truth your heart holds in
I feel you in the chill as the seasons turn
Laying down a seed, with its lessons learned.
I feel you in the sand of the desert earth
You know my hunger, know my thirst
I hear you in the cry of distant rain
Coming back to answer the call again
I meet you in the centre of the sacred dance
Reminding me your truth is in my heart.’

Love and light,
