Slow Down and Savour The Day

Hello Readers,

In a world addicted to speed, targets and deadlines, never be afraid of going slowly, rather be petrified of standing still, or even worse, going backwards. If you are oblivious to your environment whilst over doing things, you are racing towards burn out and subsequent problems connected with ill health and agitation. It’s time to stop putting yourself at the bottom of the food chain and start making you a priority because if you don’t, no one else will.

Do you feel as though your action plans are stronger than your capabilities? Are you taxing your mind, body and soul to breaking point? Just take a moment a draw a plan of how to deal with a difficult task by taking a single bite in between getting more quality rest, meditation and nutrition. The slower you go, the further you will travel, so what are you afraid of missing? In the end what will be will be and you cannot change that.

Go slow and allow yourself to enjoy the beauty of silence, serenity, and solitude. Everything grows slowly, but if you are able to avert your gaze for a while, things will appear to progress more quickly. A watched kettle never seems to boil. Pause, breathe and smile. Anything that adds to your stress is unlikely to be worth pursuing. We often feel the pressure to carry on relentlessly as though nothing has happened, even when reaching the end of our tether. Just who are you attempting to impress or please, or have they even noticed? A stiff upper lip perpetuates the myth of smiling and carrying on despite the weather, and this attitude can often lead to isolation and loneliness. There is a time to be stoic and a time to be human because we are not machines, but fragile beings. When you’re working at an unsustainable pace and feel emotionally flooded, and when things are moving so fast you can’t keep up, then you need to add stillness and calm to your life. The goal is to take however much time you need to quiet your mind. Perfection of effort is not required. It is the consistency of attempting to work with what you have got that achieves positive results. Never rush to be the first, to make a big show of standing in the front row whilst elbowing others out of the way. Take your time, slow down and endeavour to always be at your very best. Life is not a race, it’s a place to be still, happy and radiate your uniqueness. Fast drivers often overtake themselves straight through the doors of an undertakers parlour. The world may feel like it’s spinning out of control, but you don’t have to spin with it. It’s amazing what being forced to slow down can do to a person and how much more can be achieved. Haste makes waste.

Like the rocks in the river that become smooth over time, patience is the process of letting life flow at a pace that may not necessarily follow your time schedule, but essential to your success. When you slow down your pace, you are able to see things more clearly, thus enabling you to making better decisions and judgments. The degree of slowness is directionally proportional to the intensity of memory. The degree of speed is directionally proportional to the intensity of forgetting.

Every flower blooms at a different pace, just as we all do, and there is no rush to be anywhere quickly.

Love and light,

Linda and the Lulas xxx
