HELLO READERS
Life’s constant demands can sometimes drain our inner strength leaving us yearning for peace and solace and just to be left alone. It’s a profound experience that goes beyond the body and of other people’s understanding. Even the smallest and simplest of tasks become monumental and overwhelming. Sometimes it’s just all too much, but other people don’t see it that way as they continue to pile on the pressure.
When we think of the past, we only refer to the things we choose to remember. We want to believe it was all filled with gloriously sunny days, having fun and living the dream. It’s so easy to fantasies about how marvellous everything might have been, and that life was better in the good old days. However, if we revisited bygone days, we would be in for an almighty shock because reality is very different to the grandeur pictures we painted and framed in our selective memory compartments. Our mistrust of the future makes it difficult to give up the past and move forwards. The truth is always a very different story, and not many would choose to relive because where there was once light, somewhere beneath there lurked the darkness.
At this point, you may be thinking about your old goals that fell by the wayside because you made excuses and life got in the way. Now you are perhaps regretful and worried that you can no longer pursue your dreams and ambitions starting anew, but it is never too late. Where there is hope, there is life. New beginning rise up from the ruins of scorched ashes were buried somewhere deep inside are the remains of what has gone before, like an architectural haunting, a ghost like imagery that belong to a different era. Sometimes, if you look very closely, it is possible to catch a glimpse of these former incarnations and marvel at their beauty whilst at other times there is nothing. You can read and write a hundred books on wisdom, but unless you apply what you have learned, then they are only words on a page. Life is not lived solely with intentions, but with actions. If important lessons have not been learned, then everything has been a total waste of time.
Our scars have a strange power of reminding us that what has happened was real and can beat inside us like a second heart, but it’s being present, in the here that is
important because only this is real. The past has great influence over our character and the choices we make, but it’s how we remember everything and the narrative we use to describe our story that others see and hear. Some memories will be kept alive for an eternity whilst others are best forgotten.
The past is never where you think you left it because the past is never dead. All your yesterdays will continue to walk with you and sometimes you will still feel it’s painful sorrow. A ship does not sail with yesterday’s wind. Even the strongest souls need a break to rest and heal.
‘Meet me in the dark,
Bring your weary soul,
Come rest your heavy heart.’
My soul is tired,
Not of life,
But of the endless battle.’
Love and light,
Linda and the Lulas xxx
