Appreciate Yourself

Hello Readers,

If you are not happy with yourself, if you are constantly looking elsewhere, over your shoulder and anywhere but within your own soul, you are never going to find the inner peace, happiness and the true contentment that you seek.

If a you are not happy with the person you spend the most time with, yourself, then no one out there in the whole, wide world can make you happy and until you are happy and content within yourself, neither can you make anyone else happy. You may not be able to control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them either. To manage to exist in a world that is constantly seeking to change you into something else other than allow you to just be who you are, is one of life’s greatest accomplishments. If you end up with a boring, miserable life because you listened to the ‘well meaning’ advice of other people, the ones who try to convince you that they know what is ‘best’ for you and even be presumptuous enough to tell you that they know you better than you know yourself, then you deserve what you get, because everyone has choices, everyone, including you.

Never allow yourself to be bullied into doing someone else’s bidding. Accept no one else’s definition of your life. Don’t ever allow anyone to tell you that you can’t be exactly who you are, never take anything from anyone and never let them take you alive, because if you let them, they will, make no mistake about that.  You can receive all the compliments in the world, but that won’t do a thing unless you believe in yourself. Always be a first rate version of yourself and not a second rate version of someone else because when you are content to simply be yourself, and don’t feel the need to compare nor compete with others, everyone will respect you. All you can do in your life is be yourself and proud of who you are, what you have achieved and the strong, brave and courageous person you have developed in to.  Some people will love you for you, some will love you for what you can do for them and others won’t like you at all, but that is their problem, not yours, so never make the mistake of apologising for having high standards and being persuaded to lower them. People who really want to be in your life will rise up to meet them and probably learn a thing or two from you about how they can make a few improvements themselves.
