Saying ‘no’ is a skill, and when and how to say ‘no’ and mean it is a work of art that few ever achieve. You don’t even have to stay committed to something just because you are good at it. We all have choices and free will. Silence isn’t always an agreement. Sometimes people no longer argue because they no longer care. They have gone beyond it. Perhaps there is no turning back either.
Life is a series of boundaries. When you notice someone does something toxic the first time, don’t wait for a second time before you address the issue or cut them off permanently. The only true borders lie between day and night, life and death and between hope and loss. Everything else exists in the grey areas. Some people cannot comfortably live with others because all they need is their own personal space. Anything else is overwhelming and just too much. The only true conflict you will ever have in your life won’t necessarily be with others, but with yourself.
It’s so easy find yourself in a pattern of being attracted to people who were somehow unsuitable, unavailable or out of reach, until one day you begin to understand that all the time you were protecting yourself from any involvement to avoid even more trauma, pain and disappointment.
Give yourself credit because you are far more powerful than you probably realise. It’s so easy to fall into the realms of doubt and self-deprecation because of a distinct lack of self-awareness and inner confidence. Each day we are faced with difficulties and multiple daily challenges that test our strength, patience, resilience and ability to survive. Now is the time to stop disregarding your magic and giving your power away to the ignorant and undeserving, because after all, what do they know? Make a point of disassociating with the wrong people and all their negativity. Instead, save yourself, because if you don’t, no one else will.
Boundaries help you to distinguish your property so that you can take better care of it. They help you to guard your heart and protect your soul with all diligence. Most people ignore and dismiss all the red warning flags and run blindly into the arms of those who will eventually wrong them. Love yourself enough to send out clear messages about where lines must never be crossed. Your time and energy are too precious to waste on anything that has the potential of harming you. You get to choose who you do things with, and which chums are granted membership to be in your inner sanctum. There are two groups, the insiders and the outsiders. You teach others how to treat you by deciding what behaviour is and is not acceptable. You are in charge and boss of yourself. Keep things close to you and your secrets safe. There are certain situations and circumstances can create the right ambience, but it’s your attitude that builds the walls of resistance around you. Pain affects and touches everyone differently. There are occasions when it’s the right thing to put a healthy distance between us and them in order to protect what is precious and fragile.
Talent is useful, but always keep your dagger sharp. Don’t completely give up on life because even with all its darkness’s, it is still too beautiful to miss.
