The never-ending list of life digs out hidden qualities and subdued yearnings from the silence of our inner soul . If we give way to the desire of looking above and beyond the limit of the horizon, we can perceive a fabulous range of unsuspected privileges unfolding in front of our eyes. We live in a world where we often have to sacrifice our comfort for the sake of others, where we must go an extra mile to meet the needs of others can have a significant impact upon our health and ability to create a good life balance. Where we have to dig deep in our resources to please others, it is nearly always to our own cost one way or another. Even after numerous failures and disappointments, what keeps us alive, and throbbing is to rise above and beyond our limitations. It’s that inner push from somewhere within that we discover both strength and courage to become a better person today than yesterday. If we are fortunate enough, we will find people in our lives who constantly go above and beyond for us also. They are the silent earth angels who offer to put extra effort into helping us when we need a friend during our most difficult and darkest hours.
The distance between those individuals who achieve their goals consistently and those who spend their lives and careers merely following the crowd has everything to do with a person’s ability to think for themselves and be prepared to put the time, work and dedication into making their dreams become a reality. Dynamic, sustainable results will only be achieved through a commitment to going the extra mile. Whatever goal you are pursuing, you will find the inspiration you need to become a superstar performer once you start believing in yourself more.
Some people spend their lives scheming, looking for ways to do as little as possible, the bare minimum to get by, and then they have the audacity to expect superior rewards for inferior performances. It’s simply not enough to just show up and look pretty. World class performance is not, nor ever will be the by-product of mediocrity.
Commitment is about love, respect, and duty. It is a passionate obsession with excellence. It is the result of good intention, uncompromising standards, sincere effort, intelligent design, attention to detail and skilful execution. Search wherever you can for a single sound argument against going that extra mile and you will never find it, nor will you discover a single instance of enduring success which was not attained in the large part by its attitude and approach. The palest ink written on parchment will endure beyond the longest of memories. Our faith can reach beyond the limits of current reason and gives us reason to keep going forwards.
Beyond what, where, when and with whom? None of it is to be found outside of yourself but can be reached at somewhere within the vast expanse of your inner core. Take whatever comes, when it comes, without judgment nor embellishment, then watch it all pass by until whatever fate has in store next comes towards you.
Unless a commitment is made there are only promises and hopes, but no plans. Going the extra mile is the habit of champions.
