Those who have never experienced the beauty of happy mutual love have missed the best thing that life has to give. Anyone who imagines that they can work completely alone will ultimately discover themselves surrounded by rivals and competitors rather than companions. The fact is, no one ascends alone because we all need help every now and again. To learn the full value of joy we must have someone to divide it with. What use is something so wonderful if it cannot be shared?
We live amongst one another because we are tribal creatures all part of the same hive, and branches of the same tree. Irrelevant of how close we may be too other, it is vitally important to create the necessary space needed to live independently whilst protecting and valuing our privacy. Ponder and deliberate for a long time whether you are willing to allow admission to other people to join you in your inner sanctum. Not everyone is compatible with your personality, nor able to understand your philosophies. However, somewhere within every stranger we meet there could be a hidden friend you knew nothing about.
Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It is not something you are taught, nor can it be learned or bought, but if you have never experienced it, then you will never understand nor appreciate its privileges, responsibilities and full implications. Each of our friends represents a different part of our life. Some we grow very fond of whilst others remain on the periphery. True friends are always together in spirit unless they have fallen apart. Some will reunite whilst others never will again. A friendship of value can go from treasure to trash once trust is broken. Some things are irreparable and irreplaceable, whilst others are completely forgettable.
Interestingly, something happens to us when we break down. Survival teaches us to find ways of picking up our broken pieces and reassemble them. After that we must also be willing to help others during their hours of need. It is not a lack of love, but a lack of honesty and commitment that causes doubt and discomfort to set in. A friend is someone who knows all about you, yet still loves you unconditionally. No one has the right to judge because we all have our own stories to tell. We are all slightly flawed and scarred, yet magnificently imperfect.
No person is your friend who demands your silence, asks you to lie, or denies your right to speak. Life can be a very lonely and difficult place to live at the best of times. Only someone who is loyal, true and genuine will protect you and guard you during times of great sorrow and darkness. Not all which glitters is gold. Observe closely that you are not associated to unsuitable types that can pull you down to their level of toxicity. There’s nothing worse than a wolf befriending a sheep. They entice people who might assist them out of bondage, but at the first rattle of the chain, such a friend will think nothing of deserting them. These are the so-called fair-weather friendships. You are only important whilst ever you are useful. If you don’t make good choices, you could risk ruination. Never risk jeopardising your reputation.
We only have this moment in time to connect with other like-minded souls, but the web of life itself lives on for throughout eternity. The voice of friendship is not words, but action.

And so, in your friendship contented I’ll rest,
And believe I have found that one blessing in you.’
