It is always interesting how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit. It is almost as though shoddy behaviour is acceptable. Unsavoury company corrupts good morals, and we are all judged by the company we keep, so choose wisely. The only thing more frustrating than gossips and slanderers are those foolish enough to listen to them, hanging onto every word whilst believing every lie. The most dangerous untruths are always slightly distorted because it makes them sound more exciting but cause the most damage.
A growing awareness of what is really going on around you has nothing to do with becoming successful or even famous. Enlightenment is the crumbling away of untruths and falsehoods whilst seeing through the facade of pretence. It’s the complete eradication of everything we imagined to be true, and this can hurt more deeply than anyone can imagine. Never reveal your truth to the people who don’t deserve it. Discretion and protecting your privacy is of paramount importance. Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored and those who avoid reality are busy wallowing in denial and self-obsession. Some people continuously lie to themselves whilst others miraculously disappear only to reappear again at some later date once the coast is clear hoping that others forget what damage they have caused. They are always looking for a fresh start until the truth catches up with them, then its bags packed and away they go again in search of greener pastures elsewhere, anywhere, out of sight, out of mind, always on the run.
Truth is often ridiculed, vehemently opposed or reluctantly accepted. Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not necessarily the truth. The ability to ask questions is the most positive resource in gathering information and gaining knowledge. Some people dislike the truth because it interferes with their fantasies whilst shattering their dreams. Truth never penetrates a closed mind and there is no one deafer than those that don’t wish to hear. All truths are easy to understand, but first you have to discover them. Anyone who doesn’t accept the facts seriously in small matters cannot be trusted with bigger issues. Lots of people make up stories as they go along because it fits with their ideals. To wear a mask for so long, a person can quickly forget what or who is beneath it, and then, one day, the mask suddenly slips revealing their true colours. It’s hard to remember who you are when you’re constantly pretending to be someone you are not. Rumours thrive in uncertainty but die in truth.
The truth will set you free, but not until it’s done with you. Better a cruel truth than a comfortable delusion. People often hunger for truth, but seldom like the taste when it’s served up. Truthfulness requires bravery and humility as well as courage. Falsehoods can have many wings and can play out lots of make belief scenarios. Do not judge anything by its popularity because most of the time it’s all a façade. Tell the truth first or else someone will tell it for you. As you will discover, truth lies in details and never descends nor compromises. It’s only satisfied when it sees everything and everyone in its stark realness. It never goes away but is often buried or hidden in a closet until it’s unearthed again.
A half-truth masquerading as the whole truth becomes a complete shambolic mess. When trust goes, so does everything else.
